A Pair poker hand
A Pair is one step down from 2 pair and
one up from a High card.
Cards to make a Pair: 4, 4, 6, 9, J (1 pair of matching value cards and 3 extra cards).
If
more than 1 player has a pair then the highest pair wins. If more than 1 player has the same pair then hand is determined by the player who has the highest ranking Kicker. If the highest ranking kicker of both players is the same then the kicker value is moved down to the next highest ranking kicker to determine the winner.
e.g.1
Player 1: K, K, 9, 7, 2
Player 2: J, J, 6, 5, 2
Player
1 wins as their pair of Kings is higher than players 2's pair of
Jacks.
e.g.2
Player 1: Q, Q, 9, 5, 2
Player 2: Q, Q, 7, 3, 2
Player
1 wins as in this case the highest Kicker comes into play as both
players have the same pair and player 1's 9 beats players 2's 7
as the highest kicker.
The
odds of making a Pair are 1.37 : 1 |
